This little beauty is based on 'Basil's Buzzer' tied and popularised by Basil Shields of Ardnasillagh Lodge on the shores of Lough Corrib. Along with anglers like George Barron, Basil is part of burgeoning band of anglers wise to the often neglected technique of buzzer fishing on the big Irish loughs. Design-wise, there's no reason at all to mess with Basil's buzzer, such is its efficacy, not only on Lough Corrib but right across all four corners of the UK. I tweaked Basil's creation simply to make the tie quicker and easier.
Pretty much unbeatable as a first choice, on any leader position. If they're not taking Basil's buzzer, then they're probably not taking at all.
