The 'Rootbeer' has been pretty much my default cruncher over the last two or three seasons. The Rootbeer provides a good amount of flash, but with natural 'oily' shades of olive, brown, ginger, green and gold. This version is tied 'Stewart' style - with an extra, shorter hen hackle palmered through the thorax area, thus slowing down the sink rate a little, as well as providing a little more 'fuzz and buzz' than the standard, sparser cruncher. Worth a throw on any line, but comes into it's own when fish are high in the water.
Hook: Size 10,12 or 14 Kamasan B175, or B170.
Tail: Cock fibres of choice - olive, cree, ginger etc.
Rib: Black wire.
Body: 'Gliss 'n Glow M.O.P. Rootbeer'.
Thorax: Grey squirrel with a pinch of olive ice-dub.
Thorax Hackle: Grizzle hen dyed golden olive.
Front Hackle: As thorax but slightly longer.
Thread: 'Brown Olive' UTC 70 denier.
